For Women ONLY

WARNING!!!! Seriously – this is NOT for guys to read.  Actually if you are someone who doesn’t want to hear about old aunt flow – you probably should not read it either.  Male or Female.

I wrote this part on March 11, 2013:

So ya’ll know that I am honest about things. Sometimes to honest.  Here is another one of THOSE posts.

Back in July 2009, (right before our beach trip) 3 months after having Bubba, I had some serious female issues happening and had to have a D&C and during that procedure my uterus tore.  So the quick little 20 minute procedure turned into hours and the doctor ALMOST having to do a hysterectomy.  (Whatever, I really could have given a rodents rear end if he had – I WAS DONE HAVING BABIES!)

Fast forward to now….My periods have gotten so bad that I am literally confined to the dang house.  Not because of cramping.  But because of the amount. Three twin size mattress size pads in less than 6 hours.  No lie. Tampons – uh, no.  And with the heaviness of the situation comes the lethargy and weakness.  I can hardly get up and down the stairs.

I talked to the GYN back in the fall of 2011 when I went for my annual exam (disclaimer, the gal that saw me was super nice – but it was not one of the guys that treated me thru the Bubba ordeal).  At that time, she found nothing wrong with me or my crazy uterus.  Her recommendation at that time was to go back on the pill.  (Have not been on the pill since finding out about oh surprise baby…..hubby went for the big V the day after Bubba came home from the NICU.)

So I have continued on….and the situation has gotten progressively more irritating...and I dang sure DO NOT want to head into the Summer months with TWIN SIZE MATTRESSES between my legs.

I went back to the doctor this morning – Dr. J, that saw me during the Bubba ordeal and was actually the one that did the D&C.  Nice doctor.

He walked into the room and first thing he said was “ I know, I know, you’re going to say I should have done the hysterectomy”.

Dr. J gave me several options – one being an IUD, the other being an ablation and another D&C and then of course the last resort a hysterectomy.

But first they would need to get a good ultrasound of the inner workings….and also do a pap and get those results back.

So…Thursday, I had an ultrasound.

The ultrasound tech said “you have an abnormal uterus lining”.

I said, UMMM what does that mean??????  She said “they will go over everything with you when you meet after this”.  Well – I was only meeting with the PA – Nurse Midwife lady – Dr. J was not on the schedule.  So I sit and wait for her.

She was very nice.  Guess what she told me…. I have a diseased uterus!!!  I have an abnormal uterine lining – the word for it is ADENOMYOSIS.  It is a benign disease confined to the uterine muscle.

Adenomyosis

See the difference?  Mine looks like the one on the left – in case you are wondering.

And guess what the ONLY SURE FIRE CURE FOR IT IS!!!!!!!!!!

A freaking HYSTERECTOMY!!!!

Right now – I am scheduled to meet with my Dr. J on the 11th – to go over things and get his take on the whole situation.

SO- that’s what’s going on in my world.  I promise that I will give more details as I get them.

Let me also add this – for me – at almost 43 years old  and having had 4 of the most amazing kids- I am NOT upset in the least about having this diseased uterus removed – NOT IN THE LEAST.  I am rattled over the limitations that will be in place for 6 weeks.  I know that my family and fri-amily (my friends that are now like family) will once again help me as they have done in the past.  I am very lucky to have such an amazing group to rally behind me.

FYI ladies – if you have not gone for your annual pap’s and boobie mashings – PLEASE do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
